A unique tennis-themed wedding in Aurora, blending love and sport with a stunning ceremony and reception on a transformed tennis court.
When I first heard about Alyssa and Hung’s unique wedding plans, I was immediately excited. As a Richmond Hill wedding photographer, I get to experience a variety of celebrations, but this one was certainly special. Alyssa and Hung are big tennis fans, and from the beginning of their wedding planning, they knew they wanted to incorporate their love for tennis into their big day. This wasn’t your typical intimate wedding—this was a wedding hosted on a tennis court!
The day started at the charming Hillary House National Historic Site of Canada in Aurora, Ontario, a stunning mid-19th-century Gothic Revival house. The historic site offered a beautiful and timeless backdrop for Alyssa and her bridesmaids as they got ready. Her mother, with a lot of love and care, helped her with makeup and hair, adding a personal touch to the morning preparations. Hillary House, with its picturesque gardens and brick architecture, provided the perfect setting for their first look. Surrounded by vibrant flowers, Alyssa and Hung shared a quiet, intimate moment before their ceremony.
From there, we traveled to the Marilyn Redvers Tennis Centre, where the tennis court had been transformed into a wedding venue like no other. The function room at the tennis centre was set up for their “I-do” moment and could comfortably accommodate over 60 guests. It was a sunny, beautiful day, which gave us the opportunity to capture some family and group photos outdoors before the reception began.
I was blown away by the transformation of the tennis court into a magical reception space. A long dining table was set up right in the middle of the court, with Alyssa and Hung sitting at the head. In keeping with the tennis theme, the couple made a grand entrance wielding oversized tennis racquets, much to the delight of their guests. Alyssa’s mother even baked them a wedding cake adorned with tiny tennis balls, which was both adorable and a fun tribute to their love of the sport.
Halfway through the reception, things took an even more playful turn. The guests and the couple changed into white, sports-themed attire to enjoy some lighthearted fun on the tennis court. In a fitting conclusion to the day, I even had the chance to pick up a racquet and join in on the tennis games—a first for me!
Being a Richmond Hill wedding photographer means getting to capture moments that truly reflect a couple’s personality and love story, and Alyssa and Hung’s tennis-themed wedding was a fantastic example of that. It was the perfect blend of fun, creativity, and love, making it a day that I’ll remember for a long time. If you’re looking for a Richmond Hill wedding photographer to help capture your special moments in a unique and personalized way, I’d love to be a part of your journey!
